How much does it cost to have a library card?

Library membership is free of charge. 

Where can I park?

You may park your vehicle in the Blue Cross building hourly parking lot. From Main Street, turn onto Mechanic Street then onto Assumption Boulevard. The parking lot is accessible from Assumption Boulevard. We validate Blue Cross parking tickets for one hour. Please bring your ticket to our Circulation Desk for a one hour validation stamp.

Do I need my library card to borrow or renew books?

Yes, your library card is needed for all library transactions, in person, over the phone and online.

How many items may I borrow with my library card?

You may borrow up to 50 items with your library card. Some exceptions apply.

What is the loan period?

The loan period is three weeks for all items.

Can I renew my items?

You may renew a loan a maximum of two times (three weeks for each renewal), as long as no one else has requested the item you wish to renew. You can renew your loan online, by phone or in person at any public library or bookmobile.

Are you afraid you will forget the return date? If you provide your e-mail address, we will e-mail you a reminder two days before your loans are due.

What happens if I don’t return a loan on time?

Our collections are shared by all New Brunswick residents. Someone else may be waiting for what you have on loan. Please return borrowed materials on time. If you do not, late fees will apply.

What are the library late fees and fines?

Late fees: 15¢ per item per day, with a maximum fine of $ 3 per item if it is returned.

Lost library card: $ 2 replacement cost

Lost kit bag: $ 8

Lost or damaged items: Replacement cost of item, plus $ 5 processing fee.

Please try to bring back items in the same condition they were upon checkout. If an item needs mending, please mention it to a staff member.

What happens if I have unpaid fines and fees?

All library card privileges are suspended when there is $20 or more of fines billed to the library card. The library may use the professional services of a collection agency in cases of long overdue or lost materials or unpaid fines and fees.

Where can I return my loans?

During opening hours, you may return your loans at the Circulation Desk. If the library is closed, you may drop off your loans in the Book Return Chute, located near the Moncton Public Library entrance facing Downing Street. You may also return your loans at any New Brunswick public library or bookmobile.

Can I use this library card at another New Brunswick public library?

You can use your library card at all the New Brunswick public libraries and bookmobiles.

Can I request books from any other New Brunswick public library or bookmobile?

Yes. This is a free service. You may also select the pick up location (New Brunswick public library or bookmobile) that is most convenient for you. You can request books in person, over the phone, or onlineSome exceptions apply.

Can I request audiovisual material from another New Brunswick public library?

You can only request audiovisual material from libraries within the Albert-Westmorland-Kent Library Region.

How can I access a public computer?

You can reserve a computer at the library using a software called PC Reservation.  Staff will be happy to assist you if needed.  All you need is your library card and your PIN number.  With your card, you can have a maximum of TWO computer sessions per day, depending on availability.  A computer session is defined as a maximum of 60 minutes.

Guests who don't have a library card are allowed ONE computer session per day (piece of identification required).

What is my PIN?

Your PIN number is preset to the last 4 digits of your phone number. You can change it online.  You need it to access your library account online and to access a public computer at the library.
