Reference Services
The Moncton Public Library’s Reference Services does more than just help you find the information you want. On top of helping with research and questions, and providing access to books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, newspapers, magazines, government publications, and other reference materials, the Reference Department staff also provides the following services:
- Instruction on how to use our Electronic Resources and the library catalogue, Vision.
- Classes on subjects like Internet basics, opening an e-mail account, genealogical research, finding health information online, and many more.
- Access to the library’s historical and genealogy collections.
- Access to the Internet through 15 computers and the City of Moncton’s WiFi service (patrons must bring their own laptops).
- 2 study rooms (available on a first-come, first-serve basis)
- Interlibrary loan for books that are not found in a New Brunswick public library.
- Access to the microfilm room where you can find many local newspapers dating back to the late 1800s in some cases as well as church and census records.
Whether you are looking for a book, working on your family tree, doing research, or just want an answer to a question, the staff at the Reference Desk is here to help you. Come see us in person on the 2nd floor of the Moncton Public Library, e-mail us at mplib@gnb.ca, or simply call 869-6037.
