The MPL Makerspace (monctonpubliclibrary.ca/makerspace) is planning its winter calendar of workhops and is putting out a call for community makers. We are on the hunt for new people, with interesting skills, who wish to use the Makerspace for meetings, seminars and workshops and to share their brand of “making” with the public. This is a wonderful opportunity for a partnership with the library that would benefit you and your company or organization, as well as our community as a whole. The MPL Makerspace is all about sharing knowledge, resources and learning. The innovative space allows Makers of all types to meet other like minded individuals and show off their skills.
The beauty of a Makerspace is its flexibility to be for anything. We are open to any and all projects, *some* examples being: 3D modeling, Apps, Arduino, Art and Design, Bicycles, Chemistry, Circuitry, Computer programming, Crochet, Drones, Food, Hacks, Jewelry Making, Knitting, Kinetic Art, Music, Open Source, Paper Craft, Photography and Video, Radios, Raspberry Pi, Watch making, Woodworking etc. Our current library of tools includes a 3D printer and scanner, a sewing machine, a plotter, an iMac editing station, Raspberry Pis and Makey Makeys, soldering irons, bread board and components, and more. We have a budget for materials for workshops, and are open to recommendations of tool purchases.
So let us know what your special talent, hobby or interest is and we will work with you to schedule a tour and get you involved. We look forward to hearing from you! All questions and applications can be directed to Beatrice Houston: firstname.lastname@example.org or 869-6989.
